All of this amazing work would not be possible if it wasn’t for our supporters, we are extremely grateful to them all. It is so heartwarming to know there are people out there who support us, advertise for us and help us to reach out.
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

I am the Managing Director of Cell Pack Solutions, a company established over 25 years ago. We are a specialist Battery Pack Manufacturer based in South Shields. As a board member of the Advanced Manufacturing Forum and a Trustee of The Customs House I have a passion for everything I do, I am convinced that much of my success in life came about from a simple passion for chess that was sparked by my father who taught me the basics when I was about 8 years old. I played most actively from the age of 13 to 19 and believe that Chess shaped my mind and thought processes and the many lessons I learnt through this simple game have stayed with me and have guided my approach to life and business. Chess saved my life twice and I now take every opportunity to share my passion and teach the basics to whoever wants to learn the game. I am part of a team of South Shields Chess Club members that has run Chess for ALL sessions at THE WORD each Saturday Morning for the last 5 years. It was a chance meeting with Malcolm Osborne who mentioned that some of the young people at KAYAKS would like to learn and so I was invited to run some trial sessions as one of the options offered each Saturday afternoon. I had never heard of KAYAKS, but in seeing the splendid work that all the volunteers do each week I am immensely proud to have been asked to become a Patron to help raise the profile and more importantly to give some advice and a little coaching wherever it is asked for. My aim is simply to share my passion and see where it leads, helping one person might not change the whole world, but it could change the world for one person.

Kayaks are a group who pull together the families of children and young adults. Offering support and assistance to those who need it in our community. They also arrange day trips/ holidays/ and monthly Discos for their enjoyment. A lot of these children have special needs that other people don’t understand and have the best time in a safe environment, where they can spend precious time together. I speak from experience as my daughter has Cerebral palsy.
