Well, it has been a difficult couple of years during the Covid 19 pandemic but that didn’t stop us from interacting with our members until we were able to open our doors again safely. Take a look at what we have been up!
We continued to provide online support for our members via social media, telephone, zoom and successfully helped secure EHCP PLANS for some of our children and supported members with DLA/PIP advice, renewals and appeals. We have been that friend when needed for our members who just wanted to off load their worries or felt isolated and confused.
We continue to offer professional counselling though North Star for our members including children and adults, fully funded by KAYAKS to enable them to access specialised support to help with mental health and emotional well-being. We have continued this service into 2023 and it’s still ongoing.
We had fun interacting online doing fun games with the children. We arranged story time for them and delivered activities packs to homes so that families could interact together and take away the stress of lockdown at home with special needs children.
Since then we have embraced every possible opportunity so we don’t miss out on life. Lockdown made us realise just how much we all meant to each other. Some of us were alone at home, some lost their jobs, family members and friends. We at KAYAKS are in awe of our members as they have supported each other, looked after each other and helped the club as a whole. We would not be where we are without our volunteers and our members. So what we have we share with you all.
